Answers to some questions in regards to voting in the Primary Election.
Beginning Monday, April 27, New Mexico County Clerks began mailing an application for an absentee ballot to each primary voter. This will not be an actual absentee ballot but an application for one. This additional procedure is the result of a recent New Mexico Supreme Court ruling on how voting in the June 2 Primary Election will be conducted. You do not need a reason to vote absentee by mail ballot in this election.
You may also request an absentee ballot in the following manner:
- Fill out an application online by clicking here.
- Contacting your County Clerk’s Office in person, phone, mail or email.
- Downloading an Absentee Ballot Application here and mailing it or hand delivering it to your County Clerk’s Office.
Absentee voting begins on Tuesday, May 5. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is May 28. All absentee ballots may be returned to your County Clerk’s Office or any Primary Election Day polling location no later than 7:00 PM on June 2.
Early in-person voting will continue to be an option in each county, running from Saturday, May 16-Saturday, May 30. Please check locations and hours of operation by contacting your County Clerk’s Office.
Information on Tuesday, June 2, Primary Election Day polling locations can also be found on your County Clerk’s Office website.
